You can see on the second pic where the wires plug in for the heating element, on the top left corner. just stick a voltmeter into the connector for the heater coil. if its getting power its the mirror itself. My Yahoo! All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:15 PM.

If you've got some its probably the seat though I've got to say that such failures are uncommon to rare AFAIK. If you've got none, switch is the suspect.
#1 failure of heated seats is the heat element in the seat. #2 failure is the controller not delivering power. BMW is known for having problems with the heating elements in the seats. Many X3 owners have had to have the seats repaired for failed heating elements. In fact feel lucky that yours did not burn through or catch fire as early X3's had
The heated seats are not the best. I had a Insignia Eco 2010 model from work. The heat on those seats were far greater than the BMW. Maybe BMW took it consideration that too much heat on the seats would make the driver lazy, thus reducing the awareness of the drivers. Last edited by immy786r123; 09-20-2016 at 04:43 AM..
Dunno, but I typed /heated seat in the bestlinks and this came up which might help - How to fix broken wires in heated seats ( 1 ) & how to do a front ( 1 ) & rear ( 1 ) heated seat retrofit & how to retrofit active comfort seats into the E39 ( 1 ) or E38 ( 1 ) & splicing wiring for modding a 99+ sports seat into a 95-98 BMW ( 1 )
I have a 335i 2007 E90 and the inside blower is not working, with a multimeter there is no voltage coming to the motor or resistor (tried all setting high) checked all fuses. still no voltage coming on the Motor/resistor . Climate control panel all green lights and it functions normal . That happened after changing water pump/thermostat. any ideas
Handle on the outside of the seat adjusts the height. Handle under your left knee adjusts the tilt. Button under your right knee for the 'wings' of the seat. If the clutch feels heavy it either needs sorting out or you're a weakling. This assumes you have an M Sport, or optional sports/part electric seats fitted.
F30 electric seats retrofit. My 2012 F30 320d originally come with cloth manual seats. Luckily, sourced a set of leather sport seats with full electric adjustment + memory +heating + rear split folding. Several month ago, I spent a whole day got this fitted according to wiring diagram in ISTA-D.
The ebay link module is what would be under the passenger seat for a E90/91 with heated seats. The OP's pic is the drivers seat. But that is a good idea. If the seller can't send the vin, ask if they can send a pic of what is under the passenger seat. My best guess so far is the seats are not heated.
Heated seats, purchased on a subscription basis, will cost British drivers £10 a month, the equivalent of about $12. There were numerous media reports this week about BMW launching the program in
First thing to check with the seats are the fuses. Fuse nos. 12, 42. I believe that there are two different types of TPMS. One with sending units in the wheel, the other rotation speed based. I'm not sure, however, that either was factory available on the 2001.
I am having some trouble with my front passenger heated seat and both rear heated seats. The rear heated seats buttons don't even illuminate when pressed. Upon plugging in a code reader I see a trouble code for "C90D71" and "C90D72" Seat heating, rear passenger's (and driver's) side: missing LIN component.
1) Find some used seats from a junkyard and control panel/switches, install (either DIY or hire someone). Not sure if you need to make your own harness, or if all X3s have the wiring harness in place. I get the idea it costs about $400/seat plus about 3 hours of install time. 2) Purchase aftermarket heating pads ($60-160 per seat) and then
